As Director of Web Communications for The University of Alabama, I oversee the development and implementation of the institution’s new media communication strategies. I am responsible for the design, content and infrastructure behind UA’s top-level web sites, and I work closely with administration to ensure UA’s web presence is closely tied to the institution’s overall strategic objectives to effectively tell the University's story.
An alumnus of The University of Alabama, I graduated with honors from the nationally-ranked Management Information Systems program. I began my career as a business analyst in the telecommunications field for American Management Systems (now CGI), where I focused on project requirements definition, client relationship management, and functional system testing. I then worked as a web developer and technical analyst for Collegiate Sports Partners, where I developed and managed a news & media portal web site for a college sports television network.
In 2001, I returned to UA to manage the web presence of Crimson Tide athletics, where I overhauled and redesigned the official athletics web site and developed a new subscription-based multimedia web site featuring live and on-demand video streaming. I also designed the official web site of former head football coach Mike Shula, among other athletics sites. After moving to the academic side of the institution in 2005, I led the development of an award-winning new University of Alabama home page that established a unified look and feel for UA and facilitated a more cohesive and consistent UA web presence. Much of my current work focuses on exploring new ways to utilize our institutional web presence strategically and creating integrated content to reach key stakeholders.
